What Do You See?

I SEE AN IGUANA LOOKING AT ME!!!

Blind Man's Walk

The Blind Man's Walk-Working in pairs, one student was blindfolded and had to carefully lead a blindfolded student around the park. After being blindfolded, we discussed what it felt like to not use our sense of sight and we shared what we heard, felt and smelled on our walk.

Can You Hear The Bell?-One child is blindfolded. The teacher rings a bell to signal to the blinded student where she is. The blinded student needs to feel around the room and walks slowly towards the sound of the bell using only their sense of touch and hearing.

Taste helps us select food we enjoy

We used a taste graph to select the class favorite food and we talked about what tastes sweet or sour. Several small pieces of food was prepared and offered to the children to eat. Everyone had fun predicting what type of food they like. We found out that a lot of us like green olives and lemons!

My 5 Senses

This month we are learning about the 5 Senses:

Central Idea:
People and animals use their senses to find out about the world around them.
An Inquiry into:
• The five senses
• The importance of the five senses for people and animals
• Living without one of our senses

The children will be able to:
• Identify and learn the location of each of the senses belong to the body
• Demonstrate the importance of each of the senses and how we could take care of it.

We will be discovering how our senses help us gain information about the environment. We will learn the importance of each sense and what it would be like without one of more of them.

“Photography is an image that you can capture through feelings.
We create the photo in our minds, first we imagine it, then you focus
and then you click the camera. I see the image in my mind with ideas
about textures, shapes, sizes. You can move and adapt the object,
create an image.” (Cristian Arias Fernandez. Age 14.)

Family Visits

For the month of October our unit of inquiry was celebrating families. All the students brought their families in for a special visit to share with the class. We learned a lot about everyone. Thanks so much to all our families for making this such a special experience for all of us.

Remember our song!
'My Family, My Family
I love my family
My Family, My Family
My family loves me"
